Horseback riding in Royan

In the forests of La Coubre and Les Combots and along the coastline of the peninsula, dozens of kilometers of bridle paths await you. Whether you're galloping along the beaches or taking a leisurely stroll under the pine trees, the landscapes around Royan offer a multitude of choices for horse riding.

Royan's equestrian centers offer themed rides, introductory courses and baptisms for all ages, as well as short and long rides. The network of paths in the Pays de Royan is carefully marked out to allow independent horseback riding: the orange markings, specific to horse riding, indicate the routes to be followed with markings (horizontal lines), directional indications (left/right) and prohibitions (cross markings). A green sign representing a foot in a stirrup marks the start of marked trails. Horse-drawn carriages are not permitted on bridle paths or beaches.

With almost 85 km of marked trails around the Route des Cardinaux, 30 km in the Coubre forest, more than 10 km on the beach and 20 km of equestrian trails in the Combots forest, the Royan region has some of the most beautiful horseback rides in the world.
